Swarm 3: Navajo Park Trading Post/The View Restaurant, Monument Valley, Arizona.

Sunday October 16th through Saturday October 22nd.

Sunday, October 16th, 2005.

The first time I rang, someone immediately picked up. I didn't catch his name, but he's a tour guide with "Daniel Tours" or "Daniel's Tours" and gave me the url "danieltours.com" but that isn't working and I can't find any "Daniel/'s Tours" via an extensive search. So I don't know. At least the number works. It's the payphone on the left. I knew you were wondering. The theory here is that lots of people from all over the place will be visiting Monument Valley, and this is pretty much the building you go through/pass before you head out to see the sights.

Called 10:46am central, no answer

I got some young woman's answering machine. I was let down. I wanted to talk to John Ford's ghost.

I think that may have been the wrong number.

I got through at about 1pm Pacific time. The fellow answering informed me numerous times that I was calling a pay phone. He was good natured, but sounded a bit busy. He said it was raining, but that he was safely below an overhang.

That's a typical reaction. People don't get why someone would be calling a pay phone. But yet they pick up. It's Pavlovian!

I phoned in just now at about 8:30pm Eastern time. There was no answer. I had hoped to ask about the weather.

I called at 10:54pm eastern and no one answered.

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005.

9:58 a.m. PST. After the eleventh ring, a friendly man came on the line...just said "hello". I detected a spanish-sounding accent. I asked how the weather was. He said it was warm and clear and really nice. He asked me where I was calling from, and I answered "California". We had a short discussion on how it rained here AND there yesterday, but today, nice clear skies.

We offered a hearty "have a great day and thanks!" to each other and ended the call.

1:12pm EST. No answer.

10:18 am pac time, no answer :(

Called today and it rang 17 times before someone answered. Hooray! I asked for a large pepperoni pizza and he hung up. The nerve of some people...

Yeah, that annoyed me when people did that at the Mojave Phone Booth, too. Funny the first 20 times. Then ... no.

I called the Monument Valley phone today October 20, 2005 at 3:11 pm Central Standard Time.

A guy answered the phone. I asked him if he has seen Dan Wildfong and he had not. He had the same reply when I asked if he saw Dan Wildfongs ghost.

I asked what he had to eat and he told me I called the Monument Valley visitors center. After 4 or 5 more times of asking what he had for dinner with no success I decided to ask what he drank. He said he drank water. I thanked him and told him I was going to drink some water in a moment in honor of him and Wayne Gretzky.

He thanked me and hung up.

9:08am PST- A teenage boy answered after 5 or 6 rings. I asked where he was and he didn't know. He asked his Dad who also didn't know. I asked where they were headed and he said he didn't know, but that he had to get off the phone. He hung up.

I called the number listed, but got no answer. The site said that the phone was stationed in Arizona, but my cell phone registered the number as a Utah area code.
